Sport and Indoor harnesses
Full on climbing harnesses with limited gear capacity but sufficient for carrying a few quick draws when indoor leading or for outdoor sports uses. Fixed size leg loops for reduced weight, speed and neatness. Pre-formed or hard gear loops to make accessing gear more efficient.
Building a rack of passive gear
Lead climbers need to have a wide range of gear to cope with the type of fissures in the rock of choice and avoid running out of gear half way up !
Passive protection comes in three basic sizes: Micros (for very small cracks), Nuts (for most common cracks up to finger width) and Hexes and passive camming devices for bigger cracks and pockets up to fist width.
A nut remover tool is an essential item – useful for opening beer bottles as well as cleaning difficult gear placements.Anodised nuts last longer and are easier to identify but the harder surface doesn’t bite so easily into the rock crystals.
Both types have their fans and a selection is usually best.
Chalk Bag
As the title says this is a bag usually nylon or similar in construction and would be place somewhere on the harness which is easily assessable,
The chalk is used to keep the hands dry reducing the slip factor.

This item can best be described as a “rope” ladder however it is generally constructed from a nylon web type material and has a multitude of unique uses.
When deciding on equipment purchases one needs to consider what form of outdoor pursuit is preferred although some equipment is specialist many items can provide a cross purpose it is suggested considerable research is carried out before any financial commitment is made.
